In reality, these three items answer three completely different operational questions:

  • No-Load Loss
    How much power does the transformer consume just staying turned on without supplying any load?

  • Load Loss
    How much additional power is lost as heat once the transformer starts carrying active electrical load?

  • Turns Ratio & Phase
    Did the factory manufacture the transformer to convert voltage and phase angles to the exact design specification?

Understanding a test report does not require an engineering degree or a deep dive into magnetic circuits. By focusing on these core checks, you can quickly verify whether a unit meets your project requirements.

1. What Is No-Load Loss in Transformer Test Reports?

No-Load Loss (often called core loss) is best understood as "standby power."
